Quotes & Poetry

On this page you can find quotes and poetry about PTSD.

ptsd-awareness-month

When I lay me down to sleep

My mind won’t be silenced by counting sheep

It will remember all that I’m trying to forget

All things horrible and all things sad

It shows me images that make me cry

 Every shared and unsaid goodbye

Scars of the past carved in my soul

 Never being one, never whole

People don’t get how it is, living with a damaged mind

They say: ‘Just try to relax and leave it behind’

Really think it’s that easy?

Fine, you try sleeping with PTSD…

Damaged01

Damaged

Abuse

Misuse

Bruises

First on my body

Now on my soul

Grief

Without relief

Memories

The past written

In the scars on my heart

Anxiety

Melancholy

Fear

No silver lining

Not for me

Cracks

In my concrete wall

Broken wings

So I’m sure to fall

Damaged

Discouraged

Images

Thoughts overflowing

Mind beyond controlling

Flashbacks

From the past

Again, brutal attacks

Darkness

Sadness

Endlessly

Losing my grip

On reality

Slipping

Fading

Back into

Insanity

Trapped inside

Purgatory
